Hi and thank you for taking time to report this. Does this happen evry time you try to launch Shotwell, or is it intermitent?

This is not actually a problem with the shotwell package, this is a problem with unity-scope-shotwell which is in the scope packagers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~scopes-packagers/+archive/ppa
Subscribing the Scopes Packagers team as I can't find how to associate the bug with a package that is not in Ubuntu yet.
