xserver crash using xed and onboard auto click

When working in xed text editor the whole X/mdm (mint 19, also mint 18) crashes very often if auto click function is used. This happens if two tabs in xed are opened an is triggered by clicking or typing in onboard.
Sometimes it happens also using other programs. Before X/mdm dies the mouse cursor shows the wait symbol...

Onboard crashes the entire Desktop on the most recent release of Kubuntu.
