Bug Description

I find that disabling "auto-show" option is not working, after tablet reboot (and possibly after re-login or onboard restart) this option always reset to enabled state.

Previously discussed here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/onboard/+bug/1366421 (comments 41 and 43)

> The extension always enables auto-show on startup. The idea was to match the behavior of the built-in keyboard. This should probably be done only once on first start, though. Now that there is a gsettings schema for the extension I can just store a flag there.

This behaviour is observed on Thinkpad Helix 1gen and DEXP Ursus 10XW with Ubuntu Gnome 16.10 and current development build of onboard.

Should be fixed, but I had trouble starting the GNOME Shell session today. Will test another time.

Thanks for fast fix!

I can test development snapshot as soon as it will be available in PPA.

I just uploaded a snapshot of revision 2202 of trunk to the Snapshots PPA for yakkety and zesty. Xenial, trusty and precise will follow tomorrow or a day later.

With newer revision login into Gnome Shell session doesn't work for me too. I have to rollback gnome-shell-extension-onboard package to be able to login into Gnome Shell session. With previous version of gnome-shell-extension-onboard and current version (from snapshots PPA) of onboard and onboard-data packages, disabling "auto-show" option still not working.

Sorry, GNOME shell failing to start was due to the schema being out-of sync with the extension. Should be fixed in trunk. You can repair this locally with

$ sudo glib-compile-schemas /<email address hidden>/schemas/

or wait for a new snapshot.

In my tests I could then disable auto-show in preferences and it didn't get re-enabled.
