onboard icon not very crips

The icon for onboard in the application menu and in the control center isnt very crisp believe it is resizing a larger image down to the necessary size, which brings in blurriness. Xubuntu has a crisp icon for it, though it wouldnt work on a Ubuntu Mates dark theme.

The onboard package only ships an SVG icon.

Hmm, the icon looks crisp to me in MATE control center, menu and indicator. I've only added MATE to my existing Xenial system, though. Is yours a fresh install of Ubuntu Mate? Could you post a screen shot?

Here is the screenshot for the control center. This can be resolved if onboard ships a 22x22 or 24x24 icon for the application menu (whimpy would know best) and a 32x32 icon for the control center.

I've added 16x16, 22x22, 24x24, 28x28 and 32x32 hicolor icons. The MATE panel and menu needed 24x24, control center some other size, not sure which, but it gets one of the new icons. KDE seems to benefit from 28x28 as you wrote.
Looks crisp to me (again), though overall it doesn't make the icon that much prettier... If you get your hands on some icon artists, send them our way, please :).
