Cheese screenshot white screen and video freezes

Ubuntu 22.04 development branch with kernel 5.13.0-19-generic on wayland and Xorg

When taking webcam pictures with cheese on wayland and xorg, it takes the picture
but gives me a few seconds of white screen after the shot

When taking a webcam video it takes a freezed picture instead of a video
and has problems to push the stop recording button

I can confirm the white screen after taking a photo.

When trying to stop a video recording cheese freezes and after a few seconds a "Cheese is not responding" dialog box is displayed. The video found in 'Videos | Webcam' is of a continuous green screen.

Problems still exist now that I've updated cheese to version 41.0-3

On Ubuntu 22.04 starting cheese from terminal i see nothing for many seconds and then a message:
