Bug Description

[Availability]
This is a meta package for https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MIRTeam/Exceptions/OEM that means the package doesn't exist in Debian or Ubuntu archive yet.
oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta 20.04~ubuntu1 for focal in ppa:binli/staging-ubuntu-metapkg-ppa

[Rationale]
We want to improve the hardware support for ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 on focal.

[Security]
No CVE/known security issue.

[Quality assurance]
I have used ppa:binli/staging-ubuntu-metapkg-ppa to check this package on ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 8 and it works as expected.
oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta will be upgraded to 20.04ubuntu1 or latest version from OEM archive.

[Dependencies]
It only depends on ubuntu-oem-keyring.

[Standards compliance]
This package should have met all requirements of https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MIRTeam/Exceptions/OEM.

[Maintenance]
Canonical OEM Enablement Team will take care of the maintenance.

[Background information]
Please check https://wiki.ubuntu.com/MIRTeam/Exceptions/OEM for details.

Please use "oem-metapackage-mir-check" in lp:ubuntu-archive-tools to verify this MIR against the reference package in the archive.

Here is the same bug, we should rename to oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta-apt-source, but it's not follow our spec.

I have reviewed the git packaging & versioning of the proposed Ubuntu Archive package vs the OEM Archive package.

Rebuild the source package from git, and it matched what was uploaded into the PPA for sponsorship.

The version schema is correct. It follows the agreed plan from "[WIP][Draft] OEM-ize vanilla desktop image". I'm not sure if the version schema from there got translated into the reivew tools & the MIR exception process.

Modalias generated correctly in the binary package.

Sources snippet exist, and point at a published location.

Addition of the autopkgtest is nice.

Uploading to ubuntu (via ftp to upload.ubuntu.com):
  Uploading oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta_20.04~ubuntu1.dsc: done.
  Uploading oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta_20.04~ubuntu1.tar.xz: done.
  Uploading oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta_20.04~ubuntu1_source.buildinfo: done.
  Uploading oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta_20.04~ubuntu1_source.changes: done.
Successfully uploaded packages.

Next SRU team needs to accept the package & MIR team to promote it, and then release it to updates.

Hello Bin, or anyone else affected,

Accepted oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta into focal-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oem-sutton.newell-ace-meta/20.04~ubuntu1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, what testing has been performed on the package and change the tag from verification-needed-focal to verification-done-focal. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed-focal. In either case, without details of your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in advance for helping!

N.B. The updated package will be released to -updates after the bug(s) fixed by this package have been verified and the package has been in -proposed for a minimum of 7 days.

Excellent, thanks! Since this is a NEW package (and very specific), we don't need to wait the usual 7-day aging period. Also, for the same reason, I think we can release on a Friday as breakage of existing users is impossible (so no need for an emergency revert or action).
Releasing.
