No wifi connectivity with kernel 4.4.0-83 if ath9k-msi dkms is installed

I have wifi connectivity with the previous kernel if I choose it from the GRUB screen.

I don't know if this helps but I also have Kubuntu 16.04.2 installed on the same machine with:

uname -a
Linux aes-Inspiron-15-3567 4.8.0-58-generic #63~16.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jun 26 18:08:51 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

and wifi is working out-of-the-box on that.

If you still want me to test with the kernel you've suggested, could you please explain how I could install it?

I tried but failed to get the kernel going.

I downloaded

Then I ran sudo dpkg -i *.deb from the folder containing the debs and got a lot of error messages:

#8 is incorrect platform as bug reported, the manifest for #8 platform doesn't include ath9k-msi dkms.
