Bug Description
nXhtml reports "invalid value" for the id attribute if the colon (:) is used. For example: <div id="a:b" />. However, as per HTML 4 specification, the following characters are valid as long as it is not used as the first character: '.', '_', '-', ':'.

Thanks for the bug report, Abbelf. However I suspect this is a bug in Emacs itself. Can you please try and see if you have the same problem if you just use nxml-mode (with the relevant DTD)? If so, then please report it as an Emacs bug.
