Bug Description

Hello!

Notebook ASUS M50Vm video NVIDIA GEForce 9600M GS. After install NVIDA binary driver 340.107 the OS Kubuntu 18.04 is frozen tightly.

I installed the driver in two ways:
1) According to the instructions from NVIDIA in steps
2) Installation System Settings -- Driver Manager further chose -- binary driver version 340.107

The result is equally fatal. The same fatal result on the Fedora 29.

Please help me and all.

Yeah, this driver is an issue for me too. Took me a while to figure out that it was it that was screwing with my system, because I had kept ticking the "proprietary drivers" box during installation.
The only difference between I can see between our situations is that my HP TouchSmart iq506 has the G988M [GeForce 9300M GS].
Also to note, my system does work for a very short amount of time after boot. I can even sometimes get to the point of loading up the "additional drivers" page, and switching back to the open source driver. But then it all freezes up.
