Bug Description

After updating my nvidia driver to nvidia-current 302.17-0ubuntu1~precise~xup1, every time I suspend the computer
and attempt to resume activity I obtain a blank screen and am unable to wake up the computer. I need to turn off and on
again the power which is inconvenient. I am using ubuntu 12.04. This problem did not occur before the nvidia update.
My computer is a dell inspiron 1420 laptop. Sporadically, the computer fails to shut down or restart without pushing the
power button. Thank you for help resolving these issues.

I also have this problem. Resume fails every time. Machine also appears to use battery while in suspend, which seems to indicate the suspend itself may not be fully completed. I am going to roll back to old nvidia driver in meantime.

Since this is a ppa driver, I'd recommend reporting this upstream to NVIDIA.
