Feature Request: Support for HTTPS proxy with user authentication

Bug Description

Currently, there is no possibility to specify username and password for https proxies that require user authentication.
Adding usernamd and password fields next to host and port would resolve this issue.

I will donate $20 for further development of nuvolaplayer if this feature is implemented and working.

See how this is solved in Spotify for example.

Thanks for your feature request. Could you try to type
"USERNAME:PASSWORD@SERVER" (e.g. "john:<email address hidden>") to the field
Proxy Server and check whether it works?

Jiří - thanks for your reply. Your suggestion does not work for me.

However, today I installed nuvola on my updated Quantal system and I am seeing the expected behavior now - i.e. upon trying to connect to a streaming service ubuntu asks for password and username to access the https proxy (see screenshot attached).
For some reaseon this did not work in 12.04.

So the only downside to that is I guess that I have to enter the credentials every time I launch nuvola player.
Integrating the username/password fields would therefore still be nice to have but I consider the current situation satisfactory. So it's up to you.

I still set the 20$ bounty in case it is implemented in future. ;)

Thanks again

Andreas

The dialog might be a new feature in Soup library or WebKitGtk library
available in 12.10. I'll take a look at it.

Do you want to use the proxy for a whole system or only for Nuvola Player?

Would be interesting to know since I'm seeing this behavior also with other apps that I could not previously configure proxy settings for.

I use it for my whole system. I have iptables set up so it only allows outgoing traffic through a local port which forwards all my traffic to the remote https-proxy.

ssh -L 8020:localhost:3128 username@proxyserver

GNOME has *hidden* HTTP proxy authentication settings. You can try to
follow instructions in an article[1] (it's about U11.10, but the
settings should be same in U12.10).

Since development of Nuvola Player has been discontinued [1], I'm closing the bug tracker. It will be reopened when a new maintainer is found. I'm sorry I wasn't able to address this issue.
