Bug Description
So the wireless network icon is fine, but when I connect to a VPN it's almost like it overlays another icon on top and looks really bad.
(Regular icon) - http://
(Connected to VPN) - http://
I am using the MATE desktop environment.

That doesn't look wrong, it is telling you that it is connected to VPN with the lock symbol, indicating a secure network connection.

I guess the way to really tell is to try another theme and see if there is a second icon that is displayed in addition to the Regular Icon.
