Bug Description

Another priceless bit of advice from Michael Todd (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3907626/).

Sounds like for integrating with existing Hollywood post production, reading and writing DPX is the most important (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Picture_Exchange).

Thanks, Michael!

(01:29:16 PM) jderose: ichi_: so when you were, say, working on Harry Potter... what formats are used for what you get on the way in, what you give them on the way out? what are the key things we'd need to support to integrate with current industry workflows?
(01:30:01 PM) himcesjf left the room (quit: Remote host closed the connection).
(01:30:05 PM) ichi_: everything is broken down into sequences, and then on a shot by shot basis
(01:30:17 PM) ichi_: each shot is a .dpx sequence from film scan
(01:33:24 PM) jderose: ichi_: is dpx still used when source isn't from film?
(01:33:43 PM) ichi_: I think so
(01:34:02 PM) ichi_: like if you're dealing with .r3d
(01:34:15 PM) ichi_: but you need to do some paint/roto or compositing work
(01:34:22 PM) jderose: ichi_: and your giving them dpx on the output side too?
(01:34:26 PM) ichi_: you can't write .r3d back but you don't want to throw away the colour info
(01:34:32 PM) ichi_: so you'd have to write either .dpx or .exr

I'm going to round this bug out with a bit of feedback from Joshua Brown:

@novacut Yep, DPX and EXR. XML is essential for your target market, but if you can get those also. HoooBuddy.
