Bug Description

When you boot the instance nova assign the root_device_name the /dev/hda value so mount in plug and play its impossible and mount when the machine is off its impossible. If you change the /dev/hda in mysql to /dev/vda it assign /dev/vd* so its a MySQL bug.

I am a little unclear on how you are triggering this bug, are you saying you are manually changing values in the db directly and not via a nova API?

If so that is not a use case we support, perhaps we are missing an API feature to suit your use case.

Yes, im using mysql to connect and change the value, so the api gets the correct value when MySQL is changed
