Bug Description

Hi

I juste used the script to make my new 900A run with its wireless lan adapter. since it is the same as used in 4G, the WLAN connectivity is ok now. (i cross built this on a 4g). Plugged in the SD card into the 900A and booted ubuntu from it...

Another important thing is LAN access: the 900A uses another lan card the driver can be downloaded here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?product=1&SLanguage=us-en&type=map&model=P5KPL-CM

unpacked it, unpacked the rar archive inside and compiled with:

cd ..../l1e-l2e-linux-v1.0.0.4/src
sudo KBUILD_NOPEDANTIC=1 make
sudo KBUILD_NOPEDANTIC=1 make install
sudo modprobe atl1e

Now the LAN ax well works as the WLAN.

Unfortunately, the sound card does not work any more, still something to do :-)

Keep the good work up !

Thank you very much for the bug report.
This bug is confirmed, but the 901 hardware still unsupported.

Actually, the script (Trunk version) just support 701/702/900 exclusively.
Integration with 901 (900A) it's planned, in particular to include this fixes:
http://wiki.eeeuser.com/hardy_on_eee901
The problem is that 901/1000 hardware it's quite different and I'm unable to test any fix.
Until I get more feedback from the community, in particular this thread http://forum.eeeuser.com/viewtopic.php?pid=353695 I can't take the enterprise to include 901 hardware.

However, I'm confused. How did you run the script? If some hardware it's unsupported the script will say it's unsupported and won't run. Could you please send me the output of the next command:
sudo dmidecode --string system-product-name

Again, thank you very much.

Cheers.

Hi Carlos !

As I said, I run the script on the eepc 4G to make the WLAN driver run
since the script requires a network connection :-)

dmidecode --string system-product-name reports 900A on the new Notebook,
if you like to make the 900A run there must be a working connection first
- but there is no connection because of no WLAN und LAN drivers. So an
installation from scratch will fail.

I am working on a 16GB SDHC card to keep the original xandros, worked with
it on the e³4G, then started your script to make the WLAN run. After this,
I shut down the system and moved over to the 900A, there WALN worked fine
thanks to your script and I was able to download the mentioned LAN driver
in my bug report.

I could test them for 900A if you like. I also could incorporate some
fixes to the script to make the 900A run from scratch - but first be
should deal with granting permissions to distribute the driver in the tar
ball. If that is allowed, there should be a way to make the 900A (and
therefore possibly the 901) run.
