No login to zones with zlogin: "Login incorrect"

Bug Description
With the actual Version (SunOS localhost 5.11 NexentaOS_20081207 i86pc i386 i86pc Solaris) I created and installed a zone under /zone/zone1. After booting the zone I tried to login to the zone with zlogin:
root@localhost:
[Connected to zone 'zone1' pts/4]
Login incorrect
[Connection to zone 'zone1' pts/4 closed]
Someone in the IRC gave me the tip to try a save login (zlogin -S zone1) and change the line for root user in /etc/shadow from root::6445:::::: to root:NP:6445::::::
That works, but I don't know if it is a propper solution.

i use:
zlogin -S
passwd
#and press Enter 2 times
