danpei segfaults immediately when run

Bug Description

Platform: Dapper on PowerPC (Mac Mini)

To Reproduce:
1. In Synaptic select the package "danpei" for installation [in section Graphics (Universe)].
2. Open a terminal.
3. Type "danpei[ENTER]" at the bash prompt.
4. Cry.

Terminal Output:
bill@Big-Mac:~$ danpei
Danpei: Wrote configuration file => ~/.danpei.
Segmentation fault
bill@Big-Mac:~$

I can confirm that this bug occurs on an up-to-date dapper i386 install too. Here's a backtrace.

After rebuild from source this doesn't happen anymore.

Even when the package is re-build with pbuilder sefault doesn't happen anymore.

edgy on i368, if i start it in the terminal, i get:
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

danpei is obsolete and being removed. The chances of any further bug work on it are very remote.
