Bug Description
Latest Ubuntu Dapper Beta, updated this morning. Ran Synaptic to install openssh-server, 1:4.2p1-7ubuntu1. In the terminal after the keys are generated, the following appears.
useradd: name sshd is not unique
adduser: `/usr/sbin/useradd -d /var/run/sshd -g nogroup -s /bin/false -u 107 sshd' returned error code 9. Aborting.
dpkg: error processing openssh-server (--configure):
subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
openssh-server
I have tried to add the user sshd to the system manually, but get the same result. The user sshd does not show up in my passwd file or in /etc/shadow. I tried disabling user seperation in /etc/ssh/
Changed in openssh: | |
assignee: | kamion → nobody |
For now, to get this to start, I commented out the lines that check for privledge seperation users in /etc/init.d/ssh and changed /etc/ssh/ sshd_config to read UsePrivlidgeSep eration no. This starts the daemon.
