Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I have AMD Athlon64 on ASUS K8V-MX motherboard. gnewsense-1.0-livecd boots fine to the GNOME environment. I chose one swap partition and one / partition to install. it starts to install and then it crashes in the middle giving this message:

INSTALLER CRASHED

We're sorry; the installer crashed. Please file a bug report at https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+filebug and a developer will attend to the problem as soon as possible. To help the developers understand what went wrong, include the following detail in your bug report, and attach the files /var/log/installer/syslog, /var/log/syslog, and /var/log/partman:

Please report Gnewsense bugs to Gnewsense, rather than to us. (They should have changed the crash report URL.)

Exit code -11 is a segmentation fault. In this context, this is often due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive. It may help to clean the CD/DVD, to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, or to clean the CD/DVD drive lens (cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers).
