Bug Description

version: Mint 14 64-bit

When you click the network-icon on the panel and click settings, a window opens with "wired", "wireless" and "network proxy" on the left side.

Whether you select "wireless" or "wired", clicking on "options" on the right side opens the edit window for the currently selected connection - this edit window has tabs like "IPV4 settings", etc.

There is a "+" icon on the bottom. Clicking this allows you to ONLY add VPN connections - a window pops up with two options "cancel" and "create". If you click "create" AND then close the popup window for the VPN and click on "options" anywhere it shows you a different window - with tabs like "wired", "wireless", "mobile broadband", "DSL", etc.

Arguably, the window that is hidden and only is reached by closing the VPN window is the MORE useful one. The window that pops up with only three tabs on the left side is extremely crippled. Please give me an option of having just the second window open on clicking the network open.

Yes, this is a bug, but a very minor bug. We could post it over at Gnome upstream for it to be fixed, but it's so minor, it probably won't be fixed for a long time. What's happening is after you close the VPN dialog, the window behind is not highlighted so clicking options (for a bug reason) just opens 'Network Connections', rather than the options for the wireless connection. After you click on 'wireless' and then options it will work.

Anyway, you say you prefer the window that is hidden - this is known as 'Network Connections'. The window you get after clicking panel > network icon > network settings is known as 'Network'.

You can access either (In cinnamon) by going Menu > Preferences > Network [or] Network Connections

You want Network Connections if you prefer that.

Hope this helps
