Bug Description

Hello,
I have two interface eth0 and eth1, on my system. None of them are essential for the operation of the system. When I set the netplan property "optional: true" for both interfaces, the network still waits during boot time for the network to become available even when one interface is active during boot time. When I set only one interface to "optional: true," the boot time has no waiting time if the interface is active during the boot. I think the expected behaviour should be that the networkd doesn't wait for any optional interface.

Hello,

can you provide more information about your system? What versions of Ubuntu and netplan.io are your running?

I believe it might be related to this issue https://bugs.launchpad.net/netplan/+bug/2060311

It's how systemd-networkd-wait-online behaves when all the interfaces have RequiredForOnline=no unfortunately.

We are looking for a fix for this issue.

Yes, most likely related. I am using Noble Nombat dev (image downloaded April 8, 2024), and networkd as the backend. The Netplan was included by default.
