No sound on HP Mini 110

Bug Description

I installed Ubuntu 9.04 remix on a brand new HP Mini 110 and then updated the base install via Ubuntu update (Synaptic) to the packages available as of Aug. 8. I have no sound output although alsa recognizes the IDT 92HD81B1X5 chip. Playing around with the mixer settings has no affect and software that produce sound execute without error but produce no sound. So the device is there; it is just not functioning properly.

The netbook is an HP Mini 110

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug. Does the sound work in the headphones ?

I also have same problem. Just got my new HP mini 110 (mi edition), but decided i wanted UNR instead. Sound does not work though. Not in headphones either.

The sound does work in the headphones. Perhaps this is a mixer volume control problem?

Added Jaunty proposed to my package list and performed an update hoping the new packages in the proposed repository would fix the no sound out the speaker problem. It didn't.
