Bug Description

Jaunty UNR (beta) I've just installed a fresh copy only to discover that the touch-pad is rather sluggish and tends to skip about at random. also the acceleration is by default rater non responsive in that even with both acceleration & sensitivity set to maximum it still takes two side swipe actions to get the mouse pointer from one side of the screen to the other. When a USB mouse is attached (with both acceleration & sensitivity to max) the mouse responds as expected (but fast due to the previous settings!) As this is not a program crash I'm not sure if there is a utility I can use to better get more technical information to better explain this situation!

I'm seeing the same behaviour on an ASUS Eee PC 900. However, I don't believe it is the touchpad. If I open an application like Firefox or a window to browse my filesystem, the touchpad/mouse movement is fine. The only area I see the problem in, is when I'm navigating through the home menu interface. I've attached a video from my mobile phone that shows this behaviour.

Hi... yes what your clip shows, is the exact issue! but to compare the
mouse movement to Easy Peasy 1.1RC2 the movement is still rather slow even
when the netbook pannel is showing.

Did some more bug digging, and I suspect this is an Intel 915GM graphics adapter issue. If I add:
    Option "NoAccel" "True"
to the "Device" Section of /etc/X11/xorg.conf, the problem goes away....but others are created. :/ Still digging....

Looks like bug #349314; could people here confirm the updated kernels there fix their issue?

Just comment on Robbie's observation that only the home-screen (netbook-launcher) is slow, this is because the launcher uses GL, and there seems to be a driver issue on these systems. Any gl program is slow (glxgears performance is also pretty bad), when you use firefox, X no longer needs to update the gl window, so performance shoots back up.

I can confirm Andy's kernel fixed the problem for me.

I have the exact same problem using an XPS M1330, the touchpad is sluggish and unresponsive.
If I move the finger faster the mouse stays at the same place, it used to follow it withouth any problem.
