Bug Description

While having desktop effects enabled I am not able to use netbook remix as the screen is flickering between windows when switching to ume-launcher. Without having netbook-remix enabled desktop effects work nice. Also without desktop effects the netbook remix works fine.
Is this a bug or is nebook-remix supposed to work with compiz disabled? If so maybe this should be stated somewhere in the installing instructions.

I am using a MSI Wind for testing.

This part of the remix works fine with composited.

I'm marking this as invalid, but what I really mean is 'Can't Fix'.

This is a driver bug in that the Intel (and some others) don't support Indirect rendering for GL surfaces. There are some fixes coming up in the Intel driver soon, but again, this is nothing to do with the launcher and totally about drivers.

I was about to report this as a bug myself; specifically that with ume-launcher running the desktop is badly corrupted when compiz is enabled.

I was also going to add that in the context of a netbook-remix environment perhaps this was fair enough, that we shouldn't really expect to be using it with compiz, and that what we really wanted was just a line in the (rather thin as they are!) installation instructions to say that "desktop effects" should be disabled.

At least for the time being. :-)

confirmed with Intel graphics; after researching yes Neil is right the Intel drivers are not only being fixed but somewhat messed up at the moment anyway with flickering in the bottom half of the screen.

As mentioned before, this is a bug with your graphics driver, not netbook-launcher. UXA on Karmic goes some way to fixing all this (at least for Intel), but if it doesn't work properly for you, you need to report the bug against Xorg.
