Bug Description

I've installed Karmic standard 32-bit distro on three different laptops:

Lenovo T61 Model 7664-18G GPU: Nvidia Quadro 140M
Lenovo G550 Model 2958 GPU: Intel GMA 4500M
Lenovo N500 Model 4233-74G GPU: Intel GMA 4500M

$uname -a from G550
Linux lap-02 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:04:26 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux

Packages (incl. dependencies) installed: ubuntu-netbook-remix, ubuntu-restricted-extras, sun-java-plugin

UNR-launcher works perfectly on the T61, but fails intermittently on the G550 and N500:

Problem description:
Mouse pointer moving and focus is always correct.
Mouse-clicks on either menu or icons are not always registered, application not launched.
Repeated clicking and/or changing focus suddenly activates menu/ launch application.
Using arrow-keys to set focus and enter-key to launch works perfectly.
Mouse-clicks works normal in all other applications.

UNR-launcher works perfectly on both G550 and N500 with Jaunty 9.04 distro.

Could this be related to the GMA 4500 kernel driver?

Anyway, thank you for developing and maintaining the most magnificent GUI available!

Kind regards,
Ole Kristian Gaski

I have this problem as well. Clicking menus or icons does not always work. When this happens, mousing out of the icon/menu item and then back in and clicking seems to then work most of the time.

Same issue verified on IBM X40. Nor the built in, nor the external mouse works with launcher. All other application respond to mouse activity properly.

The sections "Favorites" and "Files & folders" of the launcher do behave normally. This bug only happens with launchers of the other sections (say, "Games" or "Accessories"). This seems to be related to drag-and-drop. Try to pick and move an icon which is in the "Favorites" or "Files & folders" section (say, the "Desktop" icon): it's impossible. Try with an icon of another section (say, "Sudoku" from the "Games" section): you can drag the icon, though (apparently) nothing happens when you drop it.

This bug happens when your mouse is not perfectly still while clicking a launcher in any but the "Favorites" and "Files & folders" sections. What actually happens is a tiny drag-and-drop.

@ Ric

I disagree on the diagnosis, at least I think there is more to it then that! I have this issue and it appears to happen in both the "Favorites" and "Files & Folders section" of the launcher. It also affects the tabs for the different folders/ sections, not just the app launchers themselves. It happens on around 1 in 5 clicks, highly irritating.

Same with Toshiba M100, neither the nub mouse nor an external one works at all in the launcher. Fine elsewhere.

hei, I have the exact same problem on a lenovo with intel graphic card GM45. I would say it happens for one of 2 clicks and only in netbook-launcher

same problem here on acer aspire 1360. klicking on UNR-Launcher doesn't work, after opening a gtk-application clicking with the mouse works!
I discovered, that with normal vesa drivers, clickings works. With the openchrome drivers I need for the build-in via card, clicking doesn't work in Launcher...

Hello,

I have this on a Lenovo S10-3t touch screen with hidtouch from sourceforge on 10.04 alpha 3 Netbook

On some but not all launcher tab panels the tap seems to be interpreted as drag-n-drop

Very fast taps, ie. crazy-taps or touch with two fingers, eventually causes the application to launch, rather than the icon being moved around

An external optical USB mouse has no issues.

Preinstalled Lenovo Ideapad S12, bought with UNR 9.10, mine is the other way around. I had to disconnect my external mouse and use the built-in touchpad to recover... had to kill and restart Firefox and an OpenJDK Faverolle app..

the efl version of the launcher is anyway not affected so it is a good by-pass for 10.04
