Bug Description

That way it's more likely for other (non-native) English-speakers to help with triaging and/or fixing bugs. English is the lowest common denominator for communication here on launchpad. Perhaps try Google's translation tools next time, if you're not so fluent in English.

Here's what I got with a little help from Google's translation tools:

"I have an eeepc 10.1 "with a resolution of 1024x600. I wonder how I can resize the desktop icons in UNR so that:

1) you can see more icons on the screen without moving too far down.

2) solve the problem I have in the joint where the icons take up more of a screen as they appear in rows of 3 instead of four because of the scroll bar and draw on other sets of applications.

Using final version of Ubuntu 9.10"

I'm sorry Mirco and thanks for the advise. Actually I'm enough fluent in English to report but I just saw the option to choose spanish and chose it.

Next time I'll write in English for a better Launchpad.

Thanks again!!

Hi,

I've got a similar problem on an acer aspire one. Netbook launcher clutters up the icons on some crowded classes, such as administration and preferences. I only get three columns (i.e. three icons per row) in these classes, as opposed to four columns per row in other classes. The bottom row of icons lies out of the frame and on top of icons in the next frame.

Thanks for your help,

Hello again,

I've noticed that when you enable the "System tools" menu to show at the desktop you get only three icons per row at the System panel. If you hide it at the Main menu graphical application you'll solve that issue.

However I know that's not a definitely solution but it can help you at least temporarily and maby can help to fix this bug.

Thanks!!!!!

Yes, great!

your suggestion for disabling "system tools" solves the problem in my netbook. The two icons I had within "system tools" were "Dolphin" and "konsole", both KDE apps. I guess there must be a problem with including KDE icons/apps in netbook launcher re the icon size.

Disabling the system tools menu is no problem for me as I rather use gnome apps for file browser and gnome-terminal.

Thanks

I think is not a problem with KDE apps but with the system tools menu. If you place those icons/apps into another pannel (accesories for example) through the main menu application you will be able to use them without any troubles.

I don't know why but think the problem is just when showing System tools menu.

Nice to help youl

Same problem here with an acer aspire one.
Disabling the systems tools worked for me, but it isn't a definitely solution.

Thanks for the tip, anyway.

Hi,
I had the same problem after adding "System Tools".
After reading your posts I disabled it, but unfortunately the bug is alive !

PS : I'm testing UNR on a eeepc 701

Thanks for the previous tip... and for your answers or comments !

Hi,

I think this bug is different version of bug 44715. This problem happens when the name of the menu is too long. For example, in the spanish version of the system, the menu "tools" is translated as "herraminentas del sistema",and this causes that bug. The problem isn't the icons overlap, the main problem is the launcher shows 3 columns instead 4, and the consequence of that is some element don't appear.

One way to fix that is change the name of the menu is use a shorter name, for example "Herramientas" instead "herramientas del sistema"

Sorry if i'm wrong.

Regards.
