nedit fails to launch with an X error

Binary package hint: nedit

Launching nedit causes an error:

$ nedit
X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
  Major opcode of failed request: 70 (X_PolyFillRectangle)
  Serial number of failed request: 310
  Current serial number in output stream: 320

These two suggested fixes work for me:
  * nedit -xrm '*visualID: default'
  * XLIB_SKIP_ARGB_VISUALS=1 nedit

I am running Edgy with version:

What 'dpkg -l | grep nedit' gives you?

I get the following:

ii nedit 5.5-1ubuntu1 A powerful, customizable, Motif based text e

So it is saying that 5.5.1ubuntu1 is installed while launchpad says that edgy have 5.5-2ubuntu1:

2006-07-05 22:03:00 EEST Published edgy Release universe editors 1:5.5-2ubuntu1

And according debian BTS: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=330048
This bug should have been fixed in 5.5-2

I found a source deb package and built for amd64. The version is tagged
as "5.5-2kv0". I can send you the diff if you wish.

I still have the annoying scrolling problem with any other
remotely-launched nedit's (various versions), but I suspect this is
something with Xorg that changed in edgy. The same ones all work fine via
my dapper box.

It's missing a Build-Depends on libxext-dev. Building this in a clean chroot should have pointed this out.
