Bug Description
We found inconsistency in our arp-data (nav-3.5.4). This came up when trying to locate ip-phones using mac-search.
One example was this :
- sh ip arp <mac> for 3 different macs (a,b and c) shows 3 different ip-adresses (z, x and y).
- doing the same searches in NAV (http://
the third (z) gave nothing.
- When trying "the other way" with the last ip (a), NAV shows a different mac-address then our router.
- Doing mac-search again for the mac-address NAV gave above, NAV says it uses two different ip-addresses. One of them
(a) being the correct one according to 'sh ip arp <mac>' on the router.

This has been confirmed.
So, to summarize, an IP address that changes owners (MAC) between to collection runs (30 minute interval), will not be detected by NAV. NAV will continue to record the IP address as belonging to the original MAC until it eventually is disused.
