Bug Description

Feature request.

Management needs reports which shows the age of our equipment for planning and budgeting.

Cisco equpiment has this value inside the serialnumber: The two first numerals + 1996 gives production year.

Examples:

FAB0347R07D 03+1996 = 1999
...^^
CAT0713X1QH 07+1996 = 2003
...^^
FOC1725Y2F1 17+1996 = 2013
...^^

We would like a report which massages the serialnumber and shows the age of equipment
Or that the age is saved in the database (so that we can make reports)

Hi Ingeborg,

NAV has had this report since version 4.3.0. See /report/reportlist for the full list of all available reports.

Can we please get this report for Cisco modules too?

So how about this, then?

Very good and almost there.

We need to loose all modules with module number =~ /^Tranceiver.*/ (SFPs and
GBICs). These serialnumbers to not follow the standard.

There have one time in history been requested that the optical modules should
be separated from other modules. That would also have fixed the report.

sysname orgid kind Model Serial prod_year prod_week
...
mh-gsw.infra.uit.no nett module X2-10GB-LR P3G00617 1996 61

Filtering based on model_name appeared to be a wild goose chase.

I realise it is a better idea to check if the serialnumber is ready for
decoding:

  AND serial ~* '^[a-z]{3}[a-z,0-9]{8}$'

After testing this report over all our chassis/modules, all production weeks
are now between 0-53 and production weeks have sensible values.

Fine, that is just a more concise version of the second patch. We will adopt it as such.

summary: - Age of Cisco equipment
+ Cisco chassis serial number decoding report should include modules as
+ well
