Bug Description

If Internet Exploder is set to "Displau intranet sites in Compatibility View" i.e. due to a company policy, tha NAV 4 webpage looks like a plane crash site.

Server side solution is to insert the line

    <meta http-equiv="X-UA-Compatible" content="IE=edge" />

in share/templates/base.html

The question is - should NAV override company policy by default or not. I have a slight preference for overriding it, as, as you have noticed, NAV does not work in the dreaded "Compatibility mode"

Added this as I see no good arguments against it. Big thanks to Ingeborg for supplying the solution!
