Bug Description
Many vendors today use various management techniques that mix physical and logical/virtual ports in such a way that the collected traffic statistics for a device are incomplete.
A concrete example are switch ports in Juniper EX switches. Switch ports are logical units attached to physical interfaces. The traffic counters can be found on the physical interfaces, while the logical units themselves only count certain types of management- and/or administrative ethernet frames. Since NAV only collects stats for switch-ports and router-interfaces, no stats are collected from these.
Goal: NAV should collect traffic stats for all switch ports, router ports and physical ports and put them all in the same Cricket subtree (until Cricket can be replaced)
summary: |
- Collect traffic statistics for physical ports and merge with switch- - ports and router-interfaces in Cricket to a common ports tree + Consolidate switch-ports, router-interfaces and physical port traffic + statistics in Cricket |
