Bug Description

UiT has asked for a feature that allows a user to perform a kind of "what-if" analysis to see which devices/services would be affected by taking down a specific device. The analysis would use NAV's topology information. There aren't any suggestions on what this interface should look like and where it would belong within the existing toolsets of the web UI.

I believe this could be solved without too much work by the new netmap-tool.

After the nav-ref meeting the following revision was done:

- This is a web-page that lists netboxes, devices, services and servers that are affected if a device goes down
- There must exist a mail-to link for sending mail
  - This link should have the to-field filled with contact addresses found by linking organization to affected equipment
  - There should also exist a link where to-field is not filled with addresses.
- The list of affected devices should be easily copy and pasted into the mail.

Users have issued a wish for not displaying the netboxes that have redundant links and thus are affected but does not go down. This will be implemented.

Or, I would rather say that affected devices/services are divided into two groups: Those who may experience loss of connectivity, and those who may experience loss of redundancy.

This may have implications on the generated contact list, though - you might want to send a notice to the contacts related to only one of those two groups, or both.
