Bug Description

For me Nautilus Actions Extra is an indispensable part of Nautilus File Manager, but unfortunately it stops working at every upgrade. It was just a matter of adding several symbolic links related with Python during the previous upgrade to 13.04, but now I couldn't make it work by creating those sym links again.

I'm particularly interested in seeing such actions in the Nautilus context menu as Compare, Mass Rename, Open as Root, Open Terminal Here, Resize Images, Rotate Images... which are missing under Ubuntu 13.10, and which has caused me to switch back to Ubuntu 13.04 until I can have them back.

I wish they could be converted to Nautilus Scripts with probably not so much incompatibility problems.

What do you mean not working
What version of Ubuntu x32 or x64
It's a python nautilus issues not the scripts issue you should file a bug to nautilus python

What I mean is: I don't see any of these (e.g. Open as root, Compare later, Mass Rename) in Nautilus context menu under Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit.

Please don't confuse this with what happened and how it was resolved before (i.e. create some python symlinks) although I'm not sure if this is not a similar problem again.

Confirmed, actions added using nautilus-actions configuraiton tool simply don't appear in the context menu. The tool seems broken to me. What info can we supply to help debug?

In an attempt to help debug the problem(s) with little knowledge about the issues involved I started Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool and created a new Action named Compare (to simply compare -certain- selected files in meld) but it didn't appear in the context menu either.
Manually copying the file "Compare" which works under Ubuntu 13.04 to "~/.local/share/file-manager/actions" under Ubuntu 13.10 results in this Action showing up in Nautilus Actions Configuration Tool but still without effect.
Perhaps this is related with a bug in python-nautilus package?
