Bug Description

it builds fine in a clean natty chroot with /dev/shm bindmounted.

the (powerpc) build failure in oneiric is related to the new python version 2.7.2 and does not affect natty.

Can we please see some action on this? Some of us are very reliant on matplotlib and the current version in Natty is unacceptably outdated.

Thank you for your interest in Ubuntu backports. One of the requirements for backports is that the package builds, installs, and runs in the desired release. I see a confirmation of building, but not of installing and running. Another requirement is that the rdepends are tested with the backported version to make sure that nothing broke. Here is the list of rdepends for matplotlib: http://paste.ubuntu.com/638440/
