Bug Description

Installed mythbuntu 9.10 beta fresh onto a new Mac Mini as frontend and backend. It appears that mythvideo won't recognize any files or folders in the video repository.

This bug seems like an obvious permissions issue so I tried just putting one mp4 video with 666 permissions in /tmp and myth still didn't recognize any files. This is with show unknown file extensions turned on nothing shows up, not even folders.

I noticed at start up that there was a message box about converting the mythvideo part of the mysql database to a new format. I agreed to this. When I went in to the video settings to set the location of the video directory, the default location was blank. Usually it's /var/lib/mythtv/video or something like that.

I did successfully set the music directory and import my flac audio files without issue.

Thanks.

Howdy, and thank you for helping to improve Mythbuntu by taking the time to open this ticket. I am closing it since the functionality of mythvideo is considerably different than in past releases and most tickets regarding this topic are due to the new behavior. You can read more about this here:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/MythVideo_.22_Transition_Guide#Video_Manager_Deprecated
If you could pass the word around about this link and change in functionality, including to the forums and/or mailing lists, it would be greatly appreciated.

Please do not let the closing of this ticket deter you from opening other bugs on this or other areas of Mythbuntu.

BTW, the contents of the beta disk is considerable dated, and actually mythvideo video scanning functionality has improved since then. I would encourage you to enable the PPA as described by the directions at http://mythbuntu.org/auto-builds, which will provide you with a current snapshot of the MythTV 0.22 release candidate. If that is not possible, you can always use the current .iso here: http://cdimages.ubuntu.com/mythbuntu/daily-live/

Changed in mythbuntu:
status: New → Invalid

Thank you. I got it all working and I am updating using the PPA
repository. I'll make sure to pass on the word about the new
mythvideo. So far it looks like a lot of great changes.

Thanks again.
