Bug Description

The installation of Mythbuntu does not appear. The symptoms have been described before at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/341898 .

The bug is said to have been repaired, https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/351674, but apparently not for my configuration. It was mentioned as a known issue with the beta release: "you may not be able to use mythtv-setup or run mythfrontend on a system that does not use hardware acceleration for it's open source driver." I had this type of problem with Ubuntu 8.10 with TVtime, but that program runs fine now.
Ubuntu 9.04 updates have been installed. Peculiar is that after a restart the screen settings are lost.
Attempting to repair things, I messed up the screen declaration. Mythbuntu 9.04 has been re-installed now.
The video driver I chose was the open source driver, not the xorg-driver-fglrx. Was that right?
Ubuntu 8.04 did run fine on this system (apart from TVtime). The motherboard I use has on-board graphics. In addition, it has a Radeon X300 (RV370) graphics card that should prevail. According to the Xorg.0.log, it has been detected. I also found a line saying "render acceleration enabled for R300/R400/R500 type cards".
The only warning (WW) in Xorg.0.log is that a font directory for X11/cyrillic is missing.

What can I do?

You have to use either fglrx or the workaround listed in bug 341898 until upstream has a better solution.
