Bug Description

/var/www/mythweb/data/video and /var/www/mythweb/data/video_covers are incorrectly linked.

They should be /var/lib/mythtv/videos and ~/.mythtv/MythVideo

NOTE:
I'm proposing that the default storage directory for video_covers is changed to /var/lib/mythtv/video_covers in the mythvideo package. This requires changing a default database value and creating the directory on package install.

I had to do the same thing; MythWeb complained it couldn't make the symlinks.

Corrected symlinks for video and video_covers:
$ls -l /var/www/mythweb/data
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2008-09-03 05:37 cache -> /var/cache/mythweb/image_cache
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 21 2008-09-03 05:37 music -> /var/lib/mythtv/music
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 26 2008-09-03 05:37 recordings -> /var/lib/mythtv/recordings
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 30 2008-09-03 05:37 tv_icons -> /var/cache/mythweb/image_cache
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 22 2008-09-11 17:06 video -> /var/lib/mythtv/videos
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 32 2008-09-11 17:10 video_covers -> /home/[username]/.mythtv/MythVideo/

I like the reporter's idea of moving the video_covers directory from ~/.mythtv/MythVideo to /var/lib/mythtv too, unless there is some reason it should not be.

I believe the video to vidoes problem has been fixed. Keeping open regarding the video_covers enhancement request.

@ MarcRandolph, so if I understand what you're saying the symlinks are fixed, but the storage location for the covers is still ~/.mythtv/MythVideo ? I wasn't sure what you meant by "the video_covers enhancement" since it's not a feature request, just a directory.

IIRC, the video_covers dir is now /var/lib/mythtv/posters. It is in 9.04, and I believe was also in 8.10. This only applies to NEW DB's, existing DB's will have either the old setting, or whatever people changed it to.

I think the main problem still exists though (unless it was fixed in 9.04). The symlinks are still incorrect for mythweb.

@ kwilliam++ I actually meant that the mythweb symbolic links should have been fixed (as I mention below).

Thomas, are you sure that the mythweb links aren't fixed? My understanding is that it should have been fixed in 8.10 per Bug 248563.

If that really is fixed, and the video_covers has been moved, then this ticket can be closed.

Marc,

The mythweb symlinks might be fixed, I'm not totally sure on that. I
thought I remember having to do that on 8.10, but again that was an install
long ago so I may be incorrect.

The default video_covers directory is fixed, I did that myself. Not at home
at the moment, but IIRC it is now /var/lib/mythtv/posters and that directory
gets installed by default (by default with mythvideo I believe). A quick
install of 9.04 (or if anyone has one handy) would confirm that.

I've actually moved and don't have my MythTV anymore. :-( Otherwise I would do that. Maybe just ask on IRC?

Marking incomplete as this release isn't supported anymore. Can anyone confirm that this issue is still present on a supported Mythbuntu/MythTV release?
