Bug Description

Hello, I wonder if I could ask for support for the Nebula DigiTV remote control, PCI card, using a homebrew Receiver.

I have added the following files:-

bootmisc.sh, needed the following lines added to the end
setserial /dev/ttyS0 uart none
modprobe lirc_serial
/usr/sbin/lircd

hardware.conf
lircd.conf
lircrc

I also needed to apt-get install setserial

Hope this info is OK

Regards, Steve

Steve,

Well there has been a number of changes/improvments to getting serial based
devices going. Setserial is part of the default install and handled a it more
automatically. Your particular remote isn't part of it afaik, but steps in the
right direction at least.

You may consider looking at it and trying 8.04 to see how it works for you and
what changes need to be made there. Also, we won't be making anymore changes to
7.10, so these sorts of things need to be found on 8.04...

OK, took your advice and got it working on 8.04 Alpha 4.

On a clean install went into MCC and added custom remote.

Then moved Nebula version lircd.conf into /etc/lirc/ changed owner and group to root.

Moved Nebula version lircrc to /home/steve/.lirc/ and renamed to mythtv

Added modprobe lirc_serial to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh

sudo dpkg-reconfigure setserial chose manual on closing that got message:-
The update-modules command is deprecated and should not be used. That went straight over my head!

Modified /var/lib/setserial/autoserial.conf and added /dev/tty/S0 uart none

then did cp /var/lib/setserial/autoserial.conf /etc/serial.conf

On rebooting box remote worked. Hope I haven't gone on too much and that this remote can be supported in the future.

Thanks for all your work.

Regards, Steve.
