Also affects me on 18.04 on one machine only. The machine that I upgraded to 18.04 from 16.04. A fresh install on another machine is not affected. Can temporally be fixed by deleting the config file and re-configuring. Only works then for a couple of reboots. I can also remove the item from startup apps reboot then add it back in and upon reboot I have the indicator in the top panel. Can also remove the app from startup apps and upon reboot manually start the app with the panel indicator present. Popup notifications always work, it's just the panel temperature indicator that goes missing.

Misspoke above. Panel temperature indicator does not start if I manually start the program.
