hi Alex Luya,

I see, you have Ubuntu 14.04 installed.

There this app works fine for me.

Then it could be possible, that you did not do the system-update and system-upgrade directly after installing. There are lots of
updates directly after first install.

Please do these updates and upgrades and then retry.

It should work. For me it did in Ubuntu 13.04, 13.10 and 14.04.

Greetings

No,ubuntu has been upgraded to 14.04 two months ago.One time, configuration panel of this indicator got popup out after a network reconnecting automatically, and I thought it may work magically, then reboot to test, but no lucky.

I encountered this problem when I first installed 14.04LTS last year and recently re-installed on a new machine, so I had to look it up again. Another report about Python encountering invalid characters in the my-weather-indicator code connected with my observations about the datetime-indicator not displaying when I tried to display weekday or month. The fix for that, and my-weather-indicator, is to fix a locale bug by adding "LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8" (or the appropriate equivalent) to /etc/default/locale and reboot. My-weather-indicator and datetime-indicator w/ weekday and month both start displaying, so there really isn't a bug in my-weather-indicator, but rather in locale setup.

This actually fixes it. OpenWeatherMap works with that line in the locale file.
These bugs can now be marked duplicates of this bug since they are all caused by the same thing:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/my-weather-indicator/+bug/1346756

There may be more, but I am pretty sure those all have the same source.
