Bug Description

We allow for-profit agencies ( home health aids, theropists , some
lawyers to list).

Non-profit users have complained that this distracts end-users from free
services.

We might charge for-profits to list with us.

Version 01,
change agency / program creation forms to prompt:

  I am a 501c3
  Community group
  business

CHANGE listings so it is clear that for profits are different.

----Maybe link to page describing advantages of non-profits.

setup some sort of interface to quickly/automatically hid
 listings that haven't paid.

In reply to Jane's remarks

Some random thoughts that I'll tag onto the bug.

The lawyers listed have people like Victoria Fahlberg or Osvalda Rodrigues vouching for them. The psychologists and home health agencies have no vouching. We've drawn the line at restaurants.

For some services, civil litigation for example, there isn't as far as I know a non-profit alternative.

For some services, the for-profit alternative is of higher quality albiet often at higher price. --The coffee shop vs the soup kitchen.

I am reluctant to discriminate against fields of endeavor unless they are outright exploitative. 211 doesn't allow non-501c3 groups, which (I believe) would exclude the Living Waters ministry, which does quite a lot of good work in the JAM area.

This may be a slippery slope, but we've been on it a couple years and so far the slide has been slow.

I have the vague hope of encouraging for-profit enterprises to provide sponsorship/payment so I can both quit my various day jobs pay my credit card bills both.

Of course if you (or Ken) came on the board, you'd be in a greater place to influence these sorts of decisions. :->
