Bug Description

Device: E5 HD

How to repllicate this bug:
1) Load music app.
2) Connect bluetooth headset ("bluetooth headphones" and volume slider is shown onscreen for a second or so)
3) Press play.

Result: 8 times out of 10, the sound plays through phone loudspeaker.
1 time out of 10, the play icon changes to pause, no sound is played and the time counter stays at "0:00"
1 time out of 10, the sound correctly plays through bluetooth headset

It hasnt yet been determined reliably which conditions are required to cause each of the above outcomes; at this point it is seemingly random.

If steps 1 and 2 are reversed, sound works correctly and reliably through the bluetooth headset.

To resume a podcast through bluetooth headset currently, you have to close the paused music app, start headset, reload music app and seek to correct remembered position, then press play.

Also affected: while music is playing, turning on bluetooth headset results in "Bluetooth Headset" message popping up, but sound remains playing through loudspeaker. The Music app needs to be restarted to begin play through bluetooth headset.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

This is likely elsewhere in the stack, adding media-hub so that they can assign appropriately.

@Jabawok: can you make sure that your BT headset is in fact connected when you start music playback? I've found that sometimes the headset doesn't get fully connected which would cause this since the proper system level trigger to media-hub did not happen that would cause rerouting the audio output to the headset instead of to the main speaker.

Changed in media-hub (Ubuntu):

@jhodapp : confirmed. I get the connection confirmation tone/cue through the headset which, from experience with other bluetooth senders, indicates audio is now active. Further, if the Music app is simply closed and reopenned after this point, the audio then correctly goes to bluetooth instead of speaker with no further steps.

@jhodapp Is there a particular way you would like the bluetooth headset connection status confirmed when this bug is triggered?
