Bug Description

Using devel (20141201-020204) on a Nexus 7 (2013). The music player out-the-box plays music fine. Updating it (I assume to 2.0.830) breaks it though (music doesn't start playing upon pressing Play, and progress bar for song length doesn't update past 0:00).

Album art and everything else seemingly still works fine though.

Left my tablet alone for an hour or so, came back to it, and could play music. I'm unsure as to what happened.

same problem on my Nexus 4 but no amount of waiting seems to be fixing it. It will sometimes be fixed by rebooting, but not often.

Is this issue still being seen on any devices?

I have this issue in the music player, it seems to be cause by the song titles. The songs that cannot be played all have a # in their titles (perhaps other signs can cause the bug but I didn't have the time to find more).

Wangtim, that is bug 1449790, also note that we have a WIP branch [0] which tests for different filenames

I can't play any music on Meizu MX4 regardless of file format (ogg, mp3, wma). I use version 2.2.910.
Reboots don't help, and it was able to play music month or 2 ago.

Is there any log I could attach?

Hello,

The problem is still here.
I was able to play my music one time after the download and thus even after a reboot when i push play nothing happens.

Thanks

Same here. After some time playback stopped, the upcoming tracks list shows a lot of blanks, playing a song does nothing. Rebooting did not help.

Version 2.4.1003

Maybe related to #1398323?

Same problem here. using bq 4.5 ubuntu edition ota 11.
Yesterday it happened to me about four times, i caught in all them the logs.
Attached youl find one of the log that I caught when the music app stoped while playing music.
I also have other logs from the system (mediascaner, syslog...) to attach if them would become necesary, just ask form them.

Hi, from the logs it looks like media-hub and possibly mediascanner crashed, would you be able to attach any of the other logs you captured as well?

Also the queue seems to think that all the tracks you had it in don't exist anymore, did you remove a SD card or remove a lot of music from the device? (or I'm wondering if something in the system crashing has caused the app to think this...)

Sure, looks like you are right, this time the mediascaner log was looped, the file is a 127Mb height.
Atached you will find one loop of the file mediascaner

Regarding that "the queue seems to think that all the tracks you had it in don't exist anymore". What I have seen on my phone is that as soon as the app freezes, the playing queue is full of entries without content. You can scroll through it, remove elements, remove all, nothing changes.
Although it is very hard to determine how long the list actually is, as you only see the element you highlight briefly when scrolling -> the rest is black.

Since some days i'm triying to reproduce music through the app without a good result.
This time is the media hub who is looped. Attached you will find it.

@Oliver i don't understand why the tracks doesn't exist anymore. I didn't removed them...
As aditional info i have to say that I'm ussing as default music folder a symlink to Music folder from SD card...
Now I'm ussing Krillin device with RC-proposed channel updated (i know that this isn't the recommended channel...)
I tried to remove the symlink and at the first time works well...

Do you need anything else to continue tracking the bug?
