Bug Description

After installing from the core apps PPA, trying to run the music app on the desktop brings a crash:

This might go away once we move to mediascanner2, so I'll set the importance to Medium rather than Critical for now.

David, does it seem like this bug is a language issue with either QtGrilo or Mediascanner 1.0? I wonder if you could symlink ~/Music to your localized Music directory or something?

In any case, it might be nice to know if you get something similar running the mediascanner2 code in the works [1]. Could you run it just to verify it doesn't crash? The branch isn't fully functional yet and you'll need the following packages:

qtdeclarative5-ubuntu-mediascanner0.1
qtdeclarative5-ubuntu-thumbnailer0.1

Thanks Victor, I'll give the mediascanner2.0 branch a go. However, I don't think this is a locale issue, as mediascanner1.0 should scan my Music folder regardless of the language (it worked for a while indeed).

What makes you think it's a locale-related crash?

David, could you verify if this bug still exists?

Granted, lp:1332740 is still an issue and the app seems to still be dependent upon mediascanner1.0 in the PPA

I can no longer reproduce this bug, thus marking as Fix Released. Music app is now being built daily upon new commits for 14.04, so bug 1332740 should be fixed too.

However, it is true that the dependency on mediascanner1.0 needs to be fixed.
