Bug Description
Needs better support for ssa, ass subtitles so that the media center can use the designated settings of the subtitle within the movie (mkv) file rather than acting as a simple srt subtitle. More settings for subtitles support would be helpful.
Using any anime or movie file within an mkv container with ssa subtitles would most likely produce this.

This hasn't been fixed - elisa still outputs ASS subtitles ignoring all the formatting information. This becomes a problem when watching shows that include translation notes and other text that is show concurrently with the spoken subtitles, as they all flash up too quickly on the screen to read properly. Also, the video sometimes freezes for a couple of seconds with videos that use formatting extensively.
Gstreamer has recently added a plugin called 'assrender' that could be used to display ass subtitles correctly - elisa should use this when appropriate. See http:// bugzilla. gnome.org/ show_bug. cgi?id= 481075 .
