Bug Description

Hi,
I just updated to moderncv 0.17 because of the changelog entry

"- changed the footer algorithm of style casual to avoid starting
  lines with the footer symbol."

After re-compiling my LaTeX document the bullets (footer symbols) only
changed position within the three footer lines but didn't disappear.

  * In version 0.16 there was no bullet in front of "phone", but in
    0.17 the bullet appears.

  * In version 0.16 there was a bullet in front of "homepage", but in
    0.17 the bullet disappeares.

I would appreciate that all bullets would disappear where symbols are
printed out.

Thanks for your nice work!

Kind regards...
Susanne

Hi Susanne,

Could you please post your .tex and .pdf files that show the bug? The working examples I have don't exhibit any bug.

FYI, the change was not meant to remove all bullets / footersymbols. The symbol was only removed at the start of new lines; it remains on purpose between different elements. If you want to remove it completely, you can simply redefine \footersymbol to nothing, i.e.
\renewcommand{\footersymbol}{}

Kind regards,

Hi Xavier,

For showing the "bug", please remove (comment out) the \mobile parameter from your "template.tex". The output shows the bullet in front of the phone symbol at the beginning of the second footer line.

The redefine of \footersymbol does not really help. I would appreciate this symbol between \homepage and \extrainfo. Nevertheless the redefine removes the space between the footer elements. Something like
\renewcommand{\footersybmol}{\hspace{1em}} would work fine.

Could you provide an option to only show the footersymbol (bullet) in places where no element symbol is defined (\extrainfo)? Anywhere else a horizontal space is needed for separating the text from the elements symbols.

Thanks for your quick reply and hints.

Kind regards...
Susanne

Hi Susanne,

There was indeed a bug when no mobile number was given. I just committed a fix.

For your special request, you could simply redefine \footersymbol to some space as you suggested, and include the bullet in the \extrainfo.

Kind regards,

Xavier
