moderncv incompatable with doi package

When I try to use the package 'doi' (which formats the bibliography to add links to the document object identifier), I get the following error message in the log:

Note that adding the global option pdftex to my documentclass declaration does not fix the problem. This is an exceedingly useful package that reads the doi field of a .bib and adds a link to the end of the reference. The doi is a stable url to a journal article that tracks changes to the real url so that if the publisher changes names or decides to change their naming scheme, the link does not break and is used extensively in the sciences.

comment out line 133 on moderncv.cls would help to this issue
