Bug Description

From IRC:

[09:40] <pvagner> guys I have just compiled latest trunk for windows and it appears first deck is not playing. Second deck is okay.
[09:40] <pvagner> I haven't changed the settings. I have also tried to delete the profile directory just to test.
[10:13] <rryan`> pvagner : hm, odd
[10:13] <rryan`> bkgood : possibly your changes?
[10:18] <pvagner> rryan`: I've disabled vinyl control / ipod support during the build process. I'm now recompiling with these features to see if it'll make any changes.
[10:19] <rryan`> k
[10:19] <rryan`> ipod support shouldn't compile at all
[10:19] <rryan`> it's a feature from years ago
[10:19] <rryan`> that never was finished
[11:05] <pvagner> rryan`: when the vinyl control is built-in both the decks play fine.
[11:15] <pvagner> guys Is there a way to have microphone audio mixed to the stream e.g. for recording / brooadcasting but not letting it to play through? It's a bit problematic to talk to the mic and hear my voice through the speakers even prelisten headphones after a little delay.
[11:37] <bkgood> pvagner: are you still having problems with one deck not playing?
[11:56] <pvagner> bkgood: I have recompiled this time I haven't disabled vinyl control and the first deck is working okay. Should I update?
[11:57] <bkgood> and the second deck?
[11:58] <pvagner> bkgood: both the decks are playing for me atm.
[11:58] <bkgood> ok then update if you want, sounds like nothing's broken
[11:59] <pvagner> bkgood: I have just checked definatelly I am running the latest revision so actually there's nothing to update. sorry.
[11:59] <bkgood> np
[12:00] <pvagner> bkgood: Might that be one time build issue or is vinyl control required to be built?
[12:00] <bkgood> are you using vinyl control?
[12:00] <pvagner> bkgood: No I'm not using it.
[12:01] <bkgood> vinyl control shouldn't affect playback like that
[12:01] <pvagner> bkgood: so I have just tested not to compile its support to possibly save on the resources a little.
[12:02] <bkgood> well aside from a little disk space/memory you don't save anything by not compiling in vinyl control, it doesn't use any cpu unless it's in use
[12:02] <pvagner> bkgood: Should I try recompiling again to confirm then? Because according to what you've just said it doesn't seem to matter then
[12:03] <bkgood> so when you didn't have vinyl control compiled in and deck 2 wasn't playing, was it that the deck itself wasn't playing (waveform not moving), it wasn't heard in the master out, or the deck 2 out wasn't working?
[12:04] <bkgood> but yeah if you recompiled without vinyl control and deck 2 didn't work I'd be interested to hear about it
[12:05] <pvagner> bkgood: The deck 2 was was playing fine. When hitting play keyboard shortcut for the deck 1 mixxx was in a playing state but I'm sorry I can't comment on the waveform, I have it disabled all the time because I'm blind and I can't see it.
[12:06] <pvagner> bkgood: Are you on windows? I can perhaps send you the file to test if you are.
[12:07] <bkgood> no I'm on linux
[12:08] <bkgood> but I'll recompile without vinyl control and see if I can reproduce the issue
[12:08] <pvagner> bkgood: Huh perhaps I'm not explaining it right so I'll try once more. Deck 2 is / was working as I expect it to all the time. When I compiled without vinyl control support deck 1 produced no audible output but was definatelly in the playing state.
[12:08] <bkgood> how are your output preferences set up? are you using the master out?
[12:09] <pvagner> bkgood: yes I am using master out and I have set it to my only soundcard on the laptop. Other outputs are set to none while testing this.
[12:10] <pvagner> bkgood: I have also tried setting master out to none and set deck 1 to the only sound device I have with no audible output when vinyl control is not compiled in.
[12:10] <bkgood> okay that's weird

I recompiled with vinylcontrol=0 and I wasn't able to reproduce. Not sure what's going on here, pasting here so I don't forget about it. Our mac app store version was compile without vc so this could definitely affect some people in 1.10 if it's a trunk-versus-1.9 issue.

I just reproduced this (finally) and it's intermittent at best. Likely some sort of engine race condition.

OK, if it's intermittent, then let's put it in 1.10.1

I used to get this bug all the time when testing ywwg's vinly-control branch. I just never got around to fully debugging it. I used to fix it by reenabling and disabling vinyl control repeatedly until it allowed me to use the deck
