Bug Description

As a feature request, implementing a dropdown to select what input to use for internet broadcasting would be awesome. I use an external mixer, so i need to feed mixxx back the output from my mixer. Would make a very clean setup as opposed to mucking around with idjc.

This should also be applied to recording in mixxx.

This is partially solved by the AUX/passthrough inputs. You could disable the master output, set the volume for every channel to 0 and then enable the aux input.

The current sidechain implementation would make it impossible to separate the channel selected for shoutcast and recording.

It might be more clear to users if we just had a user preference for this though.

I think this request could serve more then one purpose and also allow for a bit of clean up in the preferences -> Sound Hardware section.

The first thing is that if you have Master Mix set to Disabled every option below it up to the query devices button should be grayed out. Currently if Master Mix is set to Disabled they do not control anything. I believe it also makes the Master, Headphones, Left Bus, Center Bus and Right Bus drop downs in Output non functional. This is ok but as a matter of having a cleaner UI shouldn't these options be grayed out to indicate they are no longer available with the desired selection?

I would modify the Sound Hardware pane (if that's the proper term for it) as follows to clean it up a bit. I would Create a bordered text box just like in the Controllers Pane called Master Output. This text box would have the Master Output Mode, Headphone Delay, and Master Delay parameters. If the Enabled checkbox is removed all those parameters could get grayed out to indicate they no longer function with Master Mix Disabled, as well as graying out the corresponding Output lines Master, Headphones, Left Bus, Center Bus, and Right Bus.

Below the Master Mix bordered text box we could have another bordered text box called Recording and Broadcasting. This would have the Microphone/Talkover Mix option (which should get hardsetand non-modifiable to Broadcast and Recording only if Master Mix is not Enabled) it could also have a selection for Source where if Master Mix is enabled there is a Master Mix option, if it's not enabled you would not see Master Mix as an option to select. You would also have all the available input devices as selections.

This could allow users who use mixxx to feed their analogue mixers (like I do) to grab they tape or booth out and run it to a line-in and still be able to use the record and broadcast function. It could also allow people who want to add something past the Master out back into mixxx for broadcasting and/or recording if needed.

It would also allow for the sound hardware pane to be a bit cleaner by showing the user which options are getting disabled if Master Mix is enabled/disabled.

Thank you for your ideas. Would you mind to split them up to separate Bugs? This way, we can assign and track them individual.

It looks like this bug is superseded by Bug #1584788
