Bug Description

A microphone pass-through or talk-over feature would be good.

After the integration of the feature_external_mixer and features_hydra, this is a lot easier.

Is this implemented in the sense of A) mixing mic input to the decks input or is B) the decks volume automatically reduced to e.g. 20% as long as the talkover is active?

And how about adding a keyboard shortcut for talkover? Seems not really practical to concentrate on holding a tiny button down with the mouse while talking to the crowd.

+1 for a keyboard shotcut...

B) Is not done.. I merged it without finishing that. I wasn't sure if it
should be done or not since someone told me that some DJ software doesn't do
that. I can add it in. Also yea a keyboard shortcut sounds good.

I never used that talkover IRL. Not sure what the best behavior is. Maybe make automatic lowering the volume an option. But better ask someone who makes uses of it actually.

While looking @http://mixxx.org/wiki/lib/exe/fetch.php/manual:keyboard_quickreference.png , what about the "," (comma) key for [Microphone]talkover ?

Geez, correction for en-us keyboard:
What about the "`" (grave accent) key for [Microphone]talkover ?
Left beside Hotcue1 for Channel 1..

FWIW, I'd prefer not having an automatic volume lowering since the mic could be used in a sing-along situation so you'd want to mix it like any other channel. On my DJM-500, you just have a Mic Volume knob and adjust that as needed, all the way off to "turn off" the mic. So then all the keyboard shortcut would need to do is toggle the vol knob/slider between full and off. (And I like using ` since it's easily accessible.)

That sounds reasonable, so we simply leave it like it is?

I`ll file a separate bug for the mic-talkover keyboard shortcut.

I like to have the "talkover" funktion. I use Mixxx as a Radio-Broadcaster, and it is a nice function to talk "into" a track. Reducing the volume of the deck automatically when pressing the "talk" button would be a great feature. It will be like in "SAM-Broadcaster".

Thanks!

(sorry for my bad english)

@Volker Steiger

Do you hear yourself if you broadcast with SAM?

I've talked to a guy recently who works for an on-line radio station. He said "You never want to hear yourself!".

Currently, you hear yourself which I think is not ideal for radio moderators.

In SAM you can choose wheter you want to hear yourself or not. And, of course, its not good to hear yourself. ;)

Hi,

I'm testing mixxx 1.10 on my linux box and I can use microphone only when I click 'talk' or '`' key, but I have to keep them pushed.
It's a little bit inconvenient to keep it for longer period - imagine radio interview situation.

Is there any permanent switch in mixxx interface? Is it possible to add also permanent switch (maybe 'talk' button behaviour should be configurable)?

Thanks for your great work!

Hi paluh,

I filed a separate wishlist bug (Bug #876139) for your request. I agree that for the interview use-case a toggle will be preferable. I think maybe this is best suited for the skin to decide how the button works...

Thanks,
RJ Ryan
